Acne & Scar Treatment | Subcision
Subcision is a surgical procedure used to treat scarring from acne or chicken pox. It can also be used for traumatic scar revision.
A scar has a fibrous band at its base that causes the skin to adhere to the muscle. In subcision, a wire scalpel is used to undercut this fibrous band, which instantly elevates the base of the scar and minimizes its appearance.
Subcision is performed under local anesthesia, and there may be some swelling and redness that will subside in a day or two.
