Facial Fillers | Sculptra

Sculptra is made from a biocompatible substance called poly-L-lactic acid. When injected under the skin, it provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. It has been used in Europe since 1999 to correct skin depression, including skin creases, wrinkles, folds, scars, and eye rings.

"It's totally safe, and there's no need to test for allergic reactions before injecting Sculptra," states Dr. Timothy Jochen. "Actually, Poly-L-lactic acid has been used in dissolvable sutures for more than 20 years." For people participating in a clinical study, Scultra's effects lasted for up to two years after the first treatment session.

"Each facial filler has a slightly different effect. Each one alters the underlying structures of the face differently. It's always good to have another tool available, because the more tools you have, the greater the range of effects you can create," adds Dr. Jochen.
