Acne & Scar Treatment | Dermal Fillers

While dermal fillers are effective in wrinkle reduction and restoring volume to the face and lips, they also can help to minimize the appearance of certain acne scars by “plumping up” the indentations. As a result the scars aren’t as deep.

There are numerous dermal fillers that can be used to treat acne scars: medical-grade liquid silicone, hyalruronic acid-based products and calcium-based products. The effects of some fillers last for months, others for years. The most appropriate choice of filler will depend on the type of scarring and the patient’s skin type and condition.

Patients must also have their acne outbreaks under control since dermal injections are contraindicated for facial areas experiencing pain or inflammation, including pimples.
